Domaine Les Garçons

Behind the wine estate ‘Les Garçons’ lies a story about two young winemakers with shared ambitions, values and standards. Loïc Crespin, who comes from a family of winemakers in Beaujolais, already manages 2.8 hectares of family estate in the Brouilly and Beaujolais Blanc appellations at the age of 22. As a nature lover, it was his absolute priority to immediately switch to organic and biodynamic agriculture. In 2016, Loïc met Fabien Pinguet, who works in luxury hospitality. Inspired by shared values and a common philosophy, this led to the creation of the Les Garçons estate in Charentay. “A very exciting new project in Beaujolais”, according to Jamie Goode! In 2020, the first bottles of Les Garçons (‘The Boys’) will be launched under the flag of SAS Vins Loïc et Fabien.

Attention to nature is therefore the great common denominator. And this focus is evident in all facets of the company, but especially in the vineyards. For example, all the land – now measuring 7.1 hectares – is treated with preparations such as horn manure and silica minerals to combat diseases and improve the soil quality of the plots. In addition, hedges are planted around the vines according to an agro-ecological approach to promote biodiversity and produce authentic wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the terroir and the wine-growing area. To reinforce all this, all the vines are DEMETER-certified and special attention is even paid to the lunar calendar within the business operations.

In the cellar, vinification takes place with carbonated or semi-carbonated maceration, exclusively with indigenous yeasts. No external additives are used. The Brouillys mature partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel barrels, while the Village wines mature entirely in stainless steel barrels. The white wines undergo a maturation of two months in 7-year-old oak barrels and stainless steel barrels. The result of this careful approach is complex and structured wines that perfectly reflect the character of the landscape. A perfect pursuit of sustainability without sacrificing great quality and character.
