Château Lynch-Moussas
Lynch-Moussas is a large estate that largely consists of forests and meadows. The wine estate is owned by Philippe Castéja and his son Frédéric. Several very successful vintages have recently been produced here, but selection of these remains necessary. The plots are quite spread out and are located both near the château, between Batailley and Grand-Puy-Lacoste and just west of Pichon-Lalande.
The basis of the final blend is formed by approximately 80% Cabernet Sauvignon. This grape gives the wine backbone and stamina. The remainder consists of Merlot. Didier Chadource is responsible for the 62 hectares as technical manager, in consultation with consultants Axel Marchand and Valerie Lavigne. The ‘Guzian’ gravel and clay, over limestone, give a concentrated Pauillac with notes of tobacco, dark fruit, grilled cedar and pepper.
